President’s Council on 多样性 and Inclusion

从历史上看, the University of Idaho has a progression of leading initiatives and practices that highlight not only its commitment to diversity, but the fundamental essentialness of diversity to the University's character–it's part of our central mission and obligation as a land-grant university and our status as a leading research institution. 

Some examples of how the University's commitment to diversity is demonstrated in tangible ways include the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival, CAMP项目, the establishment of programs such as the Women’s Center, 多元文化事务, the LGBTQA这样办公室 and the 美国原住民学生中心. We have certificate programs in 多样性 and Stratification, 以及全球正义, and have courses of study in Latin American and Native American studies. 

A fully committed and active 多样性 Council will enable us to work towards a University of Idaho in 哪一个 diversity is woven into all we do: in our courses; in our research; in the type of individuals we select as our students, faculty and staff; and in how we welcome and include diversity in our work places and our classrooms.

This subcommittee examines current student recruitment and retention initiatives, developing recommendations for assessment, improvement and accountability. By highlighting culturally responsive strategies and barriers to the effectiveness of these strategies, this subcommittee better positions the University of Idaho to create an educational climate where diversity, inclusion and equity thrive to benefit all U of I students.

This subcommittee focuses on faculty recruitment and retention initiatives and hiring and promotional policies and practices. Its mission is to build and support a diverse administration, faculty and staff that will enrich the educational and work experiences of every employee and student by promoting an environment that is supportive and equitable in all aspects.

Its mission is to build and support a diverse administration, faculty and staff that will enrich the educational and work experiences of every employee and student by promoting an environment that is supportive and equitable in all aspects.

This subcommittee focuses on strengthening and supporting academic curricula and cultural enrichment activities at the University of Idaho. We recommend strategies for increased diversity and inclusion that reflect the interdisciplinary scholarship and programmatic innovation at our institution.

This subcommittee assesses campus climate and culture and makes recommendations for improvement, framed by the university’s strategic plan, diversity plan and presidential priorities.

This subcommittee examines diversity-focused statewide programs and outreach and recommends innovative approaches for integrated and strategically planned diversity goals and objectives that engage the many communities served by the University of Idaho.
